We just published our new SHIZEN BOOKS Vol.6 “GIRL FRIEND BOY FRIEND”.
The photos are shot by Richard Kern who is New York underground filmmaker, writer and photographer. He first came NYC to underground prominence as part of the underground cultural explosion in the 1980s, with erotic and experimental films featuring underground personalities of the time. Kern’s photographs have been published in magazines like Purple, Barely Legal and Vice.
The book’s art direction by Peter Miles who designs ads for Marc Jacobs, Céline and posters for Sofia Coppola, and books with Juergen Teller.

Richard used the lightning effect for this shooting which was popular in the 70s porn pictures to combined with his world view of punk rock from the 80s which he use to take a lot of picture.
10 girls and 10 boys who modeled for this shooting is most are artist and musician living in NYC. As you can see in the book they enjoyed their cool hair styles.
