On a quiet street away from the bustle of the East Village, Salon Shizen opened its doors in November of 2005 with a team of renowned stylists from Tokyo.
Combining meticulous Japanese hospitality with innovative New York glamour, style and flair, our reputation and success quickly expanded.
The success of Salon Shizen was built on serving a loyal, international, high-profile, clientele active in the New York art, design, fashion, advertising and publishing industries.
This inspired us to launch a second salon, The Oversea, in the modern, upscale neighborhood of Omotesando, Tokyo, in June of 2008.
Modeled after Salon Shizen, The Oversea offers a unique salon experience inspired by trend-setting art and fashion originating from New York and Tokyo.
In October of 2012, Salon Shizen relocated and expanded to a larger space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. With our team of expert stylists and the pursuit of creative perfection, we strive to provide an unparalleled salon experience.
In addition to individual salon services, Salon Shizen team frequently provides professional hair style services for premier New York and Tokyo-based fashion clientele as well as publishing art books in collaboration with New York creators.
Recent engagements include hair design and styling for The Journal, Tim Barber, Kathy Lo, Richard Kern, Keiichi Nitta,Jayne Lies and Opening Ceremony, as well as hair styling for fashion shows, collections, special events, seminars, print and digital advertising/media, both in New York and abroad.
